About Yohann

Nature photographer

Based in Vancouver in British Columbia, comfortably curled up in between ocean and mountains.

In a nutshell,

Photography is a very meditative process to me. It allows me to connect with the surrounding world.

I could go out with my camera from dusk to down, even at night, driven by the motivation to capture a very unique image.

The excitement that comes at the moment I release the shutter and successfully take a picture is only the surface of the iceberg.

In reality most of the day is about waiting for the right moment to come. Experiencing the wait is where photography becomes more than a mechanical process, it becomes a vocation, a lifestyle.

When I am out in the field,

I usually have something in mind that I am looking for. But obviously, things never go according to plan.

To cope with the uncertainty, it is better to stay open minded and curious. Most importantly, being out is the best place to learn and observe.

There is so much beauty in this world, some in those amazing locations that we see on Instagram, but some are just right out your doorstep.

Spending all this time waiting is a chance to really connect with my environment. To understand it better. And to find those little gems that are so often overlooked.

Ultimately my goal is to inspire you to see it too.

It is a privilege to witness all the wonders of this world,

It is a treasure to cherish and to preserve. It is so far from granted that future generations to come will have a chance to see as much as we do.

As a photographer and artist, I feel that is it my duty to protect it. By sharing my artwork I am hoping that it could inspire you to do the same.

Every little help!

As part of my commitment, a small portion of any sales made through this website will be donated to environmental nonprofits.

It is in the wild places,

Where the edge of the earth meets the corners of the sky,

The human spirit is fed.

Capture

Even the most wonderful picture in the world would have no value at all if it brings damage and disruption in the process.

As a nature photographer I am always trying to have a minimal impact on my subjects, even if it means missing a shot from time to time.

Editing

Some beautiful results can be achieved through a very gentle editing process. Sometimes it requires more work.
As an artist I don't want to bind my creativity, my intent is to inspire, not to deceive.

While focusing on producing esthetic fine art photographs, a good part of my work is also dedicated to promote the protection and conservation of biodiversity.
